The RDH is a front-line representative working with the Calgary Zone oral health team (dental hygienists, dental assistants and administrative staff), collaboratively and independently, to provide and support preventive services outlined in the provincial Oral Health Action Plan (OHAP), which focuses on providing services to the most vulnerable in the community. With the variety of settings comes a variety of work - some days with quite varied tasks and others involving repetitive tasks. Service delivery may require lots of walking, climbing flights of stairs, sitting, standing, and/or bending for long periods of time, awkward and repetitive movements. Service delivery involves transporting supplies and equipment. The RDH will be required to pack, lift, move and transport supplies and equipment to various work sites, with some equipment being heavy and awkward (e.g., mobile dental delivery units and chairs).
