Responsibilities
Assist dentists with a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared efficiently. Operate and maintain electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentally, or Epic to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Monitor vital signs and medical documentation for patients with special needs or pediatric considerations to ensure safety throughout treatment. Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow and patient comfort during procedures. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by following infection control protocols and managing sterilization of dental tools. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
Qualifications
Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentally, or Epic is essential for efficient documentation. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic technique is required to support safe patient care. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners confidently. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding, and handling medical records enhances your ability to support comprehensive patient care. Strong communication skills are necessary for collaborating with team members such as dental receptionists and hygienists. A valid X-ray certification or willingness to acquire one is required; additional certifications in pediatrics or endodontics are advantageous.
