Hilltop Greenhouses Ltd

is looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking, and physically fit person to join our team. The Delivery Driver position is a customer focused, fast paced position, which will offer a variety of routes on Vancouver Island, Lower Mainland and during the Spring busy season, the Okanagan. The new team member will be a positive individual that possesses strong interpersonal skills, can keep track of inventory, delivery the product in a timely manner, will follow all safety protocols and will be comfortable working with a diverse group of individuals.

Drivers must hold a valid class 5 BC Driver's License with no restrictions and must be comfortable driving and backing up large trucks up to 36 feet in length.

Having an Air Brake Endorsement would be considered very favourable but not necessary.

The

driver position is casual

hours based off seniority and will vary based off the needs of the operation. As little as one shift a week during the slow season and up to full time during the busy season. The busy seasons are mid-November to mid-December, and April to June. The driver should be available Monday to Saturday with the ability to start in the early morning hours.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

Office/Paperwork

Updating clip boards/paperwork with route information
Updating office with location along routes

Trucks/Driving

Performing pre trip inspections
Safely operates the vehicle at all times
Follows all safety regulations and traffic laws
Delivers product in a timely manner
Delivering carts of plants to stores in the specified delivery location
Assisting customers with the offload of their plants in a professional manner
Maintains accurate records of deliveries and notes missing or extra product during deliveries
Picking up empty carts from customers
Picking up supplies for the greenhouse
Helping maintain a clean environment in and outside the truck
Ad hoc duties as required

Driver Requirements

Previous Greenhouse Experience is NOT required; however, knowledge of plants would be considered favourable
Must be able to speak, read and write English
Must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals
Positive attitude is a must
Have a strong work ethic and be physically fit
Be detail oriented
Basic math skills required
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to follow directions given and ask questions when you don't understand
Must have own transportation - we are not on a bus route
Must have steel toed shoes/boots
Must have own cell phone
NOT required but nice to have - mechanically inclined

Working Conditions

We are a greenhouse environment - there is dirt!
Standing or sitting for long periods of time
Bending, crouching, kneeling
Will be physically demanding
Drivers are required to submit a drivers abstract with their resume.
