In support of our homebuilding activity, we operate a network of social enterprise home improvement stores called Habitat ReStore. Our ReStore locations across the GTA procure and sell new and used donated home furnishings, appliances, and renovation materials. Proceeds from sales help cover the cost to build homes, and the items we collect and sell extends the value of household items eliminating unnecessary waste.



Job Purpose:



Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Delivery Driver drives our trucks and supports Corporate donations and Corporate transfers from the warehouse. The driver is responsible for loading, unloading, sorting, staging, and transporting products to our ReStore warehouses. They will also support the warehouse coordinator when needed in offloading trailers of Corporate products.

The Opportunity:



Your standard hours of work are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. However, there may be occasions when business needs require you to work extended hours, or weekends on occasion. Operating Business hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility is expected as part of your role to meet our business needs. You are expected to complete an 8-hour work shift unless approved from your people leader. Safely operate straight truck or truck (16ft-26ft) and mechanical lifting devices including liftgate, manual pallet truck, hand trucks, and dollies Drive to pick up donations, according to a predetermined route (i.e. homes, stores, corporate offices, corporate warehouses etc.) and drop-offs to sites (i.e. ReStores, CDC and Habitat GTA Office locations within the GTA) Complete in-house pickups, curbside pickups and deliveries as determined by your route for the day. Adhere to Ministry of Transport driving standards ,and regulations and any Habitat GTA safety protocols. Deliver exceptional customer service to volunteers, donors, and stakeholders. Conduct daily inspections and complete pre- and post-trip reports of company vehicles and equipment (truck, forklift, shrink wrapper, pump trucks, dollies) Load and Unload donations on truck in a safe manner ensuring items are secured to avoid property damage and then distribute to our stores and CDC warehouse as determined by the procurement team. Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Identify safety hazards and complete the required near miss/hazard reports as determined by leadership and Health and Safety Director. Report all incidents resulting in injury and/or property damage immediately to your people leader. Follow all Safe Work Procedures (SWP's) provided to ensure the safety of you and your colleagues Keeping the vehicle clean and maintained at all times. Report any truck inefficiencies, malfunctions, or performance issues promptly to your People Leader Ensuring your truck has the right tools to complete your daily pick ups and deliveries Support CDC needs with sorting, packing and wrapping of skids and housekeeping when truck routes are finished early. Represent Habitat for Humanity GTA as a Brand Ambassador by modeling our?values and guiding principles.

What You Bring

3 years or more experience driving a 16ft - 26ft truck. Must be 25 years and above in age. A valid class G driver's license and a clean driver's abstract are required. Pickup & delivery, construction, and warehouse experience (or other relevant experience) is required. Customer service experience is considered an asset. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and walk, stand, sit, stair climb, and travel on a regular basis. Safety boots required: CSA approved safety footwear to be always worn. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively listen and provide instructions. Enjoys dealing with the public and has excellent customer service skills. Works well independently and as part of a team Friendly and helpful demeanor Trustworthy and accountable Punctual, reliable and has a good attendance record.
