Job Overview

This role combines the responsibilities of delivering materials and products to various locations, along with providing support within the manufacturing facility. The Delivery Driver & Shop Assistant will ensure that all goods are delivered in a timely manner while also assisting with inventory management, production support, and general shop duties. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who is comfortable with both driving and hands-on tasks in the manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Required).
• Air brake Certificate (Required)
• Experience operating commercial vehicles
• Experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or shop setting, with a valid forklift operator certification is an asset.
• Experience operating overhead cranes is an asset
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely and efficiently, adhering to proper lifting techniques and safety guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent and professional communication skills; positive and kind attitude.
• Professional conduct a must, always fit for duty, on time, and very reliable.
• Willingness to assist colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
• Prior experience in a fabrication setting is an asset but not required.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and build skills.
• Willingness to adapt to changes and adopt new processes easily.

Duties:

• Safely operate a 2024 Freightliner 108 SD truck to deliver steel to construction sites.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely and efficiently to assist in loading and unloading steel and support production operations.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including delivery receipts, product counts, and addresses.
• Ensure steel is properly secured during transport.
• Conduct regular checks on the delivery vehicle, ensuring it is safe and well-maintained (checking oil, tire pressure, etc.) and report any issues to management.
• Assist in basic shop tasks such as painting steel, handling materials and general maintenance.
• Clean shop and yard areas, keep organized, and free from hazards, including sweeping, mopping, and removing debris continuously.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participating in safety training.
• Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Report Occupational Health and Safety infractions, near misses, and attend OHS meetings.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
