As a Delivery Driver with SPUD and its group of companies, you'll play a key role in delivering grocery orders and fresh products through both Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) and Direct Store Delivery (DSD) channels. Operating vehicles ranging from Sprinters to 3- and 5-ton trucks, you'll ensure every order arrives safely, on time, and in perfect condition. You'll follow assigned routes, maintain order accuracy, and uphold our high standards for customer service, safety, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
Safely load, transport, and deliver groceries and goods between warehouses, customer locations, and partner sites in a timely and professional manner.
Follow assigned delivery routes, customer notes, and special instructions to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
Complete vehicle inspections (pre- and post-trip), and ensure the cab and cargo area are clean, organized, and safe.
Review and verify purchase orders before departure and upon delivery to confirm accuracy.
Pick up and return empty bins, milk bottles, freezer bags, and ice packs from customers.
Provide excellent customer service during every delivery--be the friendly and reliable face of Spud.
Load/unload goods using pallet jacks, carts, and other equipment (training provided as needed).
Strap and stabilize skids/pallets and products to prevent movement or damage during transport, following all safety protocols and company guidelines (3 and 5-ton trucks).
Report and document any delivery discrepancies, customer concerns, or incidents promptly.
Support distribution centre operations by assisting with cross-docking, sorting, and verifying incoming/outgoing bins.
Maintain cleanliness of the fleet by regularly cleaning and detailing delivery vans.
Comply with all company policies, health & safety practices, and transportation regulations.
Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned by Logistics leadership.
Experience
Valid Class 5 driver's license with a reasonably clean driver's abstract.
Proven experience operating 3- and 5-ton trucks.
Physically fit with the ability to handle repetitive lifting (up to 50 lbs) and loading tasks.
Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with polished written and verbal English.
A service-first mindset: reliable, punctual, adaptable, and detail-focused.
Thrive under pressure, especially in varied weather or cold-temperature environments.
Highly reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
Physical demands & working conditions:
Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs; sustained standing, walking, bending, and loading.
Extended periods seated while driving; exposure to cold and refrigerated environments.
Must be comfortable sitting for long durations while operating delivery vehicles.
Must be prepared to work in winter conditions, including snow and ice, and perform physical tasks such as clearing snow from vehicles and work areas as required.
