Position Overview

The Deli Clerk is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, handling deli products

with care, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This role requires

professionalism, accuracy, and a commitment to fostering customer loyalty and engagement.

The Deli Clerk will actively contribute to the department's success by executing company

procedures, promoting products, and supporting an environment of employee and customer

satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service:

Deliver responsive, courteous, and exceptional service to customers at the deli counter.

Answer customer inquiries, provide product recommendations, and respond to special

requests, including preparing samples, special orders, and party trays.

Actively promote deli products to increase sales and enhance customer experience.

Product Handling & Merchandising:

Slice, weigh, package, and price meats, cheeses, and other deli products according to

customer needs.

Ensure deli displays, cases, and other customer-facing areas are clean, organized, and fully

stocked with fresh, high-quality products.

Prepare deli products and execute merchandising programs to showcase new items and

promotions.

Handle and process stock, including ordering, receiving, and inventory management,

following company procedures.

Assist in minimizing shrink by adhering to proper handling, storage, and rotation practices.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Cashier Duties:

Operate cash registers efficiently and accurately, processing customer

transactions in a friendly and professional manner.

Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance

with company policies.

Assist customers with bagging purchases and resolving any transaction-related

inquiries or issues.

Maintain a clean and organized cashier station.

Sanitation & Food Safety:

Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health and safety protocols as

established by the company and regulatory agencies.

Maintain a clean and presentable workstation, including cleaning surfaces,

equipment, and floors, and removing trash regularly.

Confirm tools and equipment, such as slicers and scales, are clean and in

proper working condition.

Team Collaboration

Work cooperatively with team members to ensure customer satisfaction and

efficient department operations.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and store

operations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Deli counter or food preparation experience preferred but not required.

Ability to lift items weighing 25-50 lbs and operate equipment such as slicers,

scales, and cash registers.

Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods in a fast-paced

environment.

Comfortable working in temperature-controlled environments (e.g., coolers

and freezers).

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Ability to understand and follow company policies and food safety regulations.

A courteous, efficient, and professional approach to handling customer

requests and concerns.

Job Type: Part-time
