Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Deli Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in food service, food preparation, and customer interaction within a fast-paced retail or restaurant environment. This role involves preparing deli items, assisting customers, and maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation. The Deli Clerk plays a vital part in creating a welcoming atmosphere while ensuring efficient service and product quality.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of deli products, including slicing meats, cheeses, and other prepared foods Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for sales transactions Assist customers with selections, answer questions about products, and provide excellent customer service Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area, including proper food handling and storage Restock deli items as needed and ensure displays are attractive and organized Handle cash register operations, including cash handling and basic math calculations for transactions Uphold food safety standards in accordance with health regulations Assist with bussing tables or cleaning duties in the cafe or retail setting as required Support team members with additional tasks such as basic kitchen or grocery store duties when needed

Qualifications

Previous experience in food service, quick service & fast food restaurant, or grocery store preferred Knowledge of food preparation, food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures Experience with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS is a plus Strong customer service skills with the ability to upsell products and engage positively with customers Good time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods Basic math skills for cashiering, retail math, and cash handling responsibilities Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Kitchen experience or culinary background is advantageous but not mandatory Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights as needed

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 30 per week
