Overview

We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Deli Clerk to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food, and maintaining a clean and organized deli area. The ideal candidate will have experience in food service or retail environments, with a focus on food handling, sanitation, and efficient operation of POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting within a grocery store or cafe environment.

Duties

Prepare and serve a variety of deli foods, including slicing meats, cheeses, and preparing salads or sandwiches Operate POS systems (Aloha POS, Micros POS) for sales transactions, cash handling, and upselling products Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with selections and answering questions about products Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the deli area, including food safety practices and proper food handling procedures Restock shelves, organize displays, and ensure product freshness and presentation Assist with food prep tasks such as slicing, packaging, and portioning items efficiently Handle cashier duties including processing payments accurately and managing cash register operations Uphold sanitation standards by cleaning workstations, utensils, and equipment regularly Support other store functions such as bussing tables or assisting in the cafe or grocery sections as needed

Experience

Previous experience in food preparation or food service is preferred; experience in quick service or fast-food restaurants is a plus Familiarity with POS systems like Aloha POS or Micros POS is advantageous Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation procedures within the food industry or grocery store environment Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods Customer service experience demonstrating the ability to serve diverse customers professionally Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and product measurements Experience with cashiering, upselling, and sales techniques to enhance customer experience and store revenue
