This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is looking to go from traditional construction towards a more sustainable practice of deconstruction. You will work closely with other Laborers and Site Supervisors to deconstruct buildings throughout Unbuilders\xe2\x80\x99 Vancouver Island region. ABOUT THE POSITION Reporting to the Site Supervisor you will be a part of a team of former-carpenters, roofers, framers, and tradespeople who have made the switch from construction to deconstruction. Specific Duties include (but are not limited to):
Deconstruct buildings under the supervision of the Site Supervisor and others
Uninstall fixtures and finishes for donation to charity partners
Salvage and process hardwood flooring material, in addition to other materials (i.e. vinyl plank)
Remove drywall, lath and plaster, and other finish materials and load into bins/trailers for recycling
Strip roofing material and load into bins/trailers for recycling
Remove stucco or other cladding materials and separate appropriately
Collaborate with heavy equipment (i.e. cranes, excavators, tele-handlers) operators
Communicate with the Site Supervisor regarding any suggestions or concerns
Follow occupational health and safety policies and procedures
THE REQUIREMENTS
1+ years of trades or labour experience
1+ years of experience on roofs and working at heights
1+ years experience in renovation
1+ years experience in demolition
Fall Protection Training is an asset
Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
CSA approved Steel-Toed Boots are mandatory on all sites
COMPENSATION
$20 to $23 hourly to start (dependent on experience)
2 weeks\xe2\x80\x99 vacation
Benefits (after three months probationary period)
