We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Daycare manager assistant to join our team. A daycare manager assistant is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the daycare center, ensuring that it runs efficiently, safely, and in a way that fosters a positive environment for children, staff, and families. They act as the link between the daycare's staff, parents, and leadership, implementing policies, supporting staff, and handling any issues that arise.
We are an Infant and toddler group daycare with five classrooms in Burnaby Metrotwon area. We have a total of 12 staff and 40 children.
Duties
Operational Management
: Overseeing daily operations, including staff schedules, child-to-staff ratios, room assignments, and ensuring a structured, organized environment.
Staff Supervision and Support
: Supervising staff members, conducting performance evaluations, and providing coaching or mentorship as needed. Assisting in recruitment, training, and onboarding of new employees.
Safety and Compliance
: Ensuring that the daycare complies with all licensing requirements, health and safety regulations, and internal policies. Conducting regular safety checks and making sure emergency procedures are in place.
Parent Communication
: Acting as a point of contact for parents, addressing concerns or questions, and keeping them informed of their child's progress and any updates on daycare policies or activities.
Enrollment and Waitlist Management
: Managing child enrollment, handling inquiries, maintaining waitlists, and ensuring that each room has the appropriate number of children according to guidelines.
Budgeting and Financial Oversight
: Assisting with the center's budgeting process, managing expenses, processing billing, and tracking payments. Monitoring resources and supplies to ensure proper allocation within budget constraints.
Program Implementation and Curriculum Support
: Working with staff to implement age-appropriate activities and curriculum. Ensuring that programs align with developmental goals and support children's physical, social, and cognitive growth.
Conflict Resolution
: Addressing conflicts or issues that arise with children, parents, or staff members. Resolving issues professionally and escalating them to the director if necessary.
Event and Activity Planning
: Assisting in organizing special events, field trips, and holiday celebrations. Coordinating activities that engage children and provide opportunities for creative learning and play.
Record Keeping and Reporting
: Maintaining records of children's attendance, health records, incident reports, and staff credentials. Preparing reports on operations as needed by the director.
Facility Maintenance
: Ensuring the daycare environment is safe, clean, and well-maintained. Coordinating with facility maintenance staff or vendors for repairs and improvements.
Team Building and Morale
: Fostering a positive work environment for staff, encouraging teamwork, and promoting open communication. Organizing team-building activities and recognizing staff achievements.
Professional Development Support
: Identifying and arranging opportunities for staff professional development to enhance the quality of care and education provided.
Qualifications are as follows:
Meet the requirements of Childcare Licensing, valid ECE certificate, a valid First Aid certificate, a minimum of three references on file, and completion of a Criminal Record Check.
Driver's License
Vehicle in good working order (must have)
Minimum 3 years experience working in daycares.
Previous managerial experience is preferred
Fluent in English speaking and writing.
Valid working VISA in BC.
