Position Overview:


Food Handler Certification is a MUST for this position.



You'll oversee daily food service: receiving catered meals, preparing and portioning

AM snack, lunch, and PM snack

for all classrooms, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment.
This position also includes

supporting classroom staff by covering lunch breaks

as needed, so

previous experience working in a childcare or early learning setting

is required.

What You'll Do

Prepare and portion AM snack, lunch, and PM snack

according to menus and dietary/allergy restrictions.

Receive and verify catered food deliveries

(temperature, labels, and quantity checks). Ensure

allergy-safe practices

-- clear labeling, separation, and no cross-contamination. Keep accurate

temperature logs, cleaning checklists, and daily records.

Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and prep areas; follow deep-clean routines.

Assist educators by covering staff lunch breaks

in classrooms (e.g., helping supervise or assisting with meals). Maintain kitchen and storage areas according to

Toronto Public Health

standards. Monitor and report

inventory needs

(snack items, cleaning supplies, etc.).
Must-Have Qualifications

Valid Food Handler's Certification

(Ontario).

Experience working in a childcare or early learning environment

(required). Experience in

food service, catering, or institutional kitchens

. Knowledge of

allergen management

and safe food handling. Ability to lift 25-40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and multitask efficiently.

Clear Vulnerable Sector Check

First Aid/CPR Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Nice to Have

WHMIS or HACCP-style training. Familiarity with serving

infant, toddler, and preschool

age groups.
Schedule

Monday to Friday

, daytime hours (e.g., 7:30am-3:30pm or 8:00am-4:00pm). Occasional flexibility for special events.
