Over the years, the organization has undertaken numerous initiatives ranging from the establishment of mosques and religious education to community services and a Halal foodbank. AMCIA has established Green Dome Islamic School (GDIS), one of the largest Islamic school projects undertaken by a Muslim charity in North America.

We are seeking a qualified, experienced, and passionate
Director
to lead this daycare.
Key Responsibilities:
As Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of daycare operations, including leadership, licensing, staff, curriculum, safety, and family engagement. The responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
Daily Operations & Licensing
:
Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the daycare center to ensure it runs smoothly and effectively.
Ensure full compliance with Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations, health and safety standards, and internal organizational policies.
Ensure that ratios and other regulatory standards are met at all times.
Welcome and assist inspectors or officials from licensing, health departments, and other agencies during site visits.
Maintain and update all operational policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory updates.
Leadership & Team Management
:
Provide strong, supportive leadership to daycare staff including educators and support workers.
Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and supervision of all staff and make sure all staff members understand the objectives and expectations.
Develop and implement ongoing training, evaluations, and performance improvement plans for staff.
Curriculum & Programming
:
Oversee the implementation of a developmentally appropriate program/curriculum.
Collaborate with educators to develop and refine the curriculum and educational philosophy.
Ensure the center provides a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment.
Family & Community Engagement
:
Establish strong partnerships with families and maintain open, respectful, and effective communication with parents/guardians about their children's learning and development.
Represent the daycare at open houses, parent meetings, and community events.
Foster a family-centered environment that reflects the diversity of the community.
Administrative & Financial Duties
:
Maintain accurate records of staff, children, and finances.
Handle registrations, enrollment, and waiting lists.
Manage payments, child safety, environmental health/hygiene, timesheets, payroll processing, and accounts receivable/payable.
Write and administer grant(s) applications, funding opportunities, certifications, licensing, and accreditations.
Plan for long-term sustainability, including strategies for enrollment growth and program expansion.
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Mandatory):
Early Childhood Educator Level III Certification
(as per Alberta Children's Services*)
Minimum of 5 years of experience
in a licensed childcare setting, preferably as a Director or Assistant Director
Strong knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices in childcare settings
Valid First Aid and CPR certification (Child Care Level)
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
Three professional references (must be contactable)
Class 5 Driver's License
Demonstrated flexibility and reliability in work hours and scheduling, including occasional extended or adjusted shifts as needed to support program operations
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Proof of eligibility may be required at the time of hiring)
Preferred Qualifications & Assets
Food Handling Training
Experience or training in working with people with disabilities
Experience with Alberta's Accreditation and Quality Enhancement programs
Salary & Benefits:
From: $20.00 per hour; based on experience
Alberta government wage enhancement (subsidy) in addition to base pay
Paid vacations depend on the length of service

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position. Candidates must be available to work 40 hours per week in person at our Calgary location (4616 80 Ave NE, Calgary AB T3J 4B7). Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, with
occasional flexibility required
for special events or operational needs.
