The Sarnia Riding Club provides member's families, adults and children with year-
round athletic, recreational and social programs in a unique lakeside setting. The
club's facilities and day camp program create an atmosphere for fun and exciting
summers for the members and their children. The role of the Day Camp Lead is a "working" lead position, which means the Day Camp Lead will act as a Day Camp Counsellor as well as covering the additional lead duties. The role of Day Camp Counsellor is to provide a safe, fun and interactive program for children to attend on a weekly basis during the summer and other times of the year.

Duties and Responsibilities (but are not limited to):
Foster and ensure a safe, healthy environment for day campers and fellow staff by modeling the appropriate behaviour.
Greet campers and their parents at the beginning of the day with a positive and welcoming demeanor and ensure they are signed in. At end of day, make sure campers are being picked up by the appropriate person and signed out.
Handle member issues and concerns in an appropriate manner to the best of your abilities. Communicate any member issues and concerns with Rec and Events Coordinator.
Ensure day campers are attending swimming and tennis lessons in a timely manner on a daily basis.
Help facilitate and lead the programs that are scheduled for the day and be able to plan and implement extra programming as required.
On a rotational basis unless decided otherwise within the team, staff are required to join campers in open swim.
Be able to work in a team environment but also be able to work independently with little to no supervision.
Maintain, clean and ensure the camp space and camp supplies are neat and tidy.
Participate in staff meetings and report to Recreation and Events Coordinator.
Report and record details of incidents such as injuries, camper issues etc.
Additional Tasks and Responsibilities
Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate nine weeks of activities for Summer Day Camp program, as well as June PA Day Camps.
Conduct educational component and schedule staff for Outdoor Education groups (June).
Plan and ensure sufficient day camp supplies according to SRC budget.
Oversee part-time and full-time day camp staff, prior to and during employment.
Plan bi-weekly schedules and organize staff assignments (adhering to budgeted ratios).
Continuously inspire and lead staff, meeting with them at the middle and end of the season for check ins.
Address concerns and conflicts amongst staff members to the best of abilities. Consult Rec and Events Coordinator if necessary.
Monitor emails and address questions and concerns from parents. Consult Rec and Events Coordinator if necessary.
On a rotational basis arrive prior to rest of the staff to open facility and prepare for the day.
Lead pre-camp training session
May be offered additional hours at March Break, PA days and School day camps (outside of July/August).
Complete mandatory virtual training (WHIMS, AODA, Workplace Violence and Workplace Safety Awareness Training).
Qualifications
Experience working in camps and/or with children
First aid/CPR training
Vulnerable sectors police check
Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
Responsible, reliable, and energetic
Strong leadership, organizational and verbal communication skills are considered an asset.
Working Conditions:
Must be comfortable staying active outdoors (walking, standing, heat, etc.)
Job may require working on weekends, evenings and holidays
Physical Requirements
Shift may require up to 9 hours of standing, walking and moving around
