Database\'Data Architect


Position Overview



As a key member of the Data Management & Analytics (DMA) organization, the database\'data architect will be responsible for day-to-day technical support\'maintenance of our current database systems, as well as working on projects related to additional data systems, or data products. Also responsible for defining our database and data architecture moving forward including creating and championing policies and standards.


This role will work closely with internal customers, other DMA members, and report to Manager of Data Management & Analytics.






This is a fully remote position


Responsibilities


  • Database administration
    • including encryption, security, and high availability
    • Disaster recovery plans
    • Setup new prod and non-prod databases as required
    • Data/database security reviews
    • Approve the deployment of new indexes
  • Database architecture
    • including encryption, security, and high availability
    • Documentation of environment
  • Asset manager for SQL Server, DQS, MDS, SSIS, Data Cloud Factory, and Azure data options
    • Research industry best practices
    • Define and document standards, and policies, including for: usage, installation, configuration, preventative maintenance, monitoring, disaster recovery, and high availability
  • Data architecture
    • Including best practices and standards
    • Oversight on any database/data projects
    • Oversight of DW design and development
  • Manage internal architecture initiatives\'projects
  • Informal research into data\'database tools, frameworks, and architectures
  • Formal extensive research\'evaluation of data\'database tools, frameworks, and architectures
  • Enforce data\'database standards and policies with other teams via manager\'lead
  • Meet with external parties to determine technical architecture requirements for project initiatives involving data/database area.
  • Support of team members with advanced SQL performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Help rest of data/database team with workload as much as possible, for example
    • Database development
    • SSIS development



Basic Qualifications


  • Minimum 10 years of experience in database and data warehouse development
  • Minimum 5 years of SQL Server database administration

Preferred Qualifications


  • Degree in business, computer science, or engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of two years of database architecture experience
