Database Coordinator

Job Purpose
The Data Coordinator supports the Bissell Centre's mission by managing databases, creating reports from various data sources, and training staff. The ideal candidate is skilled in Power BI, SQL, and Excel and can learn Microsoft Power Apps within 3 months. The role also requires flexibility and a willingness to adopt other digital tools as needed to enhance data management and support the organization's operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create reports and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders using Power BI and other reporting tools.
Learn and maintain Power Apps to create and manage data collection tools, ensuring systems remain current and effective.
Extract data from various data sources (SQL Server, Dataverse, etc.) as required and ensure proper
maintenance of data sources.
Manage and maintain organizational databases, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and reliability.
Work with leadership to ensure data collection protocols are consistently followed.
Prepare reports, memos, and documentation for data-related projects, and communicate data insights through presentations, workshops, or written summaries.
Develop and maintain training materials, user guides, and documentation.
Train staff on using databases, Power Apps, and Power BI tools.
Attend program and team meetings to support data and reporting needs.
Provide ongoing technical and data support for projects and initiatives.
Support data entry, validation, and reporting processes.
Collaborate with teams to improve workflows and use automation tools.
Support analysis and evaluation projects as needed.
Qualifications
Fresh graduate or candidate with up to 3 years of work experience.
Experience working with databases and managing data effectively.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, SQL, and Power BI.
Knowledge of Power Apps is an asset.
Must be able to learn Microsoft Power Apps within 3 months and be flexible to adopt other digital tools as the organization evolves.
Familiarity with issues of poverty, houselessness, and Edmonton's urban core is an asset.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Conditions of Work
This position reports to the Manager of Analysis & Evaluation. The expectation is that the successful candidate will work at home for most of the time with about 5% to 25% of the time in the office at Bissell Centre East.
