Could It Be You?The Database Administrator will be part of a team that drives the implementation of core database infrastructure components for cloud-native applications, creating tools and services that power our Engineering teams. Collaborating with different teams influencing the design and delivery of our database footprint.The Database Administrator is part of the team that provides QTGs datastore expertise and tooling to boost developer productivity. You will work on cloud database infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code, and create toolsets and services for the delivery of applications and infrastructure components. As a Database Administrator, you will collaborate with QTGs infrastructure teams to promote engineering practices to ensure we maintain stable and high-performance database environments.What\xe2\x80\x99s it like working as a Database Administrator at Questrade?In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:Champion \xe2\x80\x9cProduction Quality\xe2\x80\x9d and create cutting-edge cloud database infrastructure through developing automation.Build and improve different tooling ranging from administration tasks to DR automation to developer helpersLead and participate in technical discussions to aid system design, analysis, and troubleshootingHelp engineering teams to develop, test, debug, and release scalable, resilient and highly available cloud-native applications quickly.Offer expert-level knowledge during incidents or other special events when on call.Good knowledge and interest in Cloud computing concepts and solutions including public, private, and hybrid cloud.Experience with at least one of the predominant public clouds (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Hands-on experience with container technologies, like Docker runtime and Kubernetes orchestration.Ability to write clean code in at least one language (i.e Python, Golang, NodeJS, Bash, etc.)Exposure or familiarity with the Linux Operating system.Experience in supporting critical database systems.Excellent organizational, communication, analytical and interpersonal skills and ability to write clear technical documentation.Good grasp of database monitoring and alerting.Additional kudos if you\xe2\x80\xa6Holds BSc in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline and experience is desiredHave experience building CI/CD pipelines using eg. Gitlab CIHave experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Cloud Deployment Manager.Have experience with creating developer tooling (Slack bots, local development environments etc)Have experience with GCPHave experience working with database engines such as MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDBHave experience with Hashicorp Vault or other secrets management approachesSounds like you?
