The Data Entry Clerk supports the accounting team by accurately inputting, updating, and maintaining financial and transactional data in the company's accounting system. This role helps ensure that records are complete, organized, and ready for reporting or audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter vendor invoices, customer payments, expense reports, and other financial transactions into the accounting software.
- Verify data accuracy by cross-checking with source documents (e.g., purchase orders, receipts, contracts).
- Maintain and update accounting records, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Assist in reconciling bank statements and credit card transactions.
- File and organize financial documents (digital and/or paper).
- Communicate with vendors and internal teams to clarify missing or incorrect information.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary coursework in accounting or business an asset.
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks Online) preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles is an asset.
- Good typing speed and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to work with deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
Work Environment
Office-based role, Monday-Friday (some flexibility during month-end).
Reports to the Accounting Manager or Bookkeeper.
