We're looking for a Data Engineer to support our Information Services team at our administration centre in Edmonton, Lloydminster, or Red Deer, Alberta.

The Date Engineer will be responsible for working closely with the IS Architecture team to expand and optimize our Data Warehouse and Enterprise Information Management (EIM) architecture, as well as optimize the collection, the flows and distributed access of data.

More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Designs and builds Data Pipelines and is an experienced data wrangler.
• Supports our software developers, data analysts, database administrators and data scientists on data initiatives.
• Works to ensure optimal data delivery architecture remains consistent throughout ongoing projects.
• Must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.

Requirements:

To qualify, you'll need at least the following:

• 4+ years previous management experience with data engineering
• 4+ years of Python or Java development experience
• 4+ years of SQL experience
• 4+ years of experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling
• Experience with or knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies
• Experience with ML libraries and frameworks

• Strong understanding of data science concepts

• Bachelor's degree or diploma required in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems or equivalent
• Strong communication skills - written, verbal & presentation
• Strong facilitation and negotiation skills
• Ability to collaborate & influence stakeholders at varying levels within the organization
• Ability to lead teams and train others
• Able to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines

Although not required, the following experience and education/certifications are valuable assets:

• A certificate in Data Engineering is a plus.
