Position Title

Data and Research Analyst


Position Summary


The Data and Research Analyst is a key strategic role supporting Red Deer Polytechnic's Continuing Education and Corporate Training (CECT) division.



As the institution's primary non-credit data Analyst, this role is responsible for leading the development and delivery of high-quality research, data analysis and reporting. The Analyst synthesizes information from a variety of sources including learner feedback, program performance metrics, enrollment data, and market trends to produce insights that guide strategic planning, program development, evaluation of the quality of training delivery, and institutional reporting.

This position also leads task automation and reporting systems. The Analyst supports a culture of data fluency by mentoring staff, building user-friendly dashboards, and enhancing access to reliable, high-quality data. Working collaboratively with IR, IT Services, the Registrar's Office, and leadership, this role plays a central part in strengthening data systems, improving institutional reporting, and advancing learner success through evidence-based practices.


Position Responsibilities


Data Analysis Reporting

Develops and delivers high-quality live dashboards and reports, executive briefs, and visual data summaries that inform leadership decisions, strategic priorities, and non-credit program investments. Leads CECT reporting including data collection and writing for both internal and external reporting requirements. Prepares monthly and quarterly reports to leadership on progress related to enrollment, revenue, program development, etc. Prepares reports and data feeds to leadership and Program Coordinators from Lumens, Blackboard, Monday.com, Salesforce, and/or other related databases. Creates reports for Registration, Revenues, and Articulation and Assessment Services. Applies statistical analysis, develops, and maintains high-performance data visualizations, reports, dashboards, and provides ad hoc reporting to support strategic priorities.


Program Quality Metrics and Research Analysis

Collects, analyzes, and interprets learner experience data, program performance metrics, and workforce trends to support continuous improvement of non-credit offerings. Prepares comparative analyses of current programs against competitor institutions and market benchmarks to inform program renewal, enhancement, or retirement decisions. Conducts ongoing assessments of Central Alberta's training needs and business development opportunities by performing environmental scans, industry research, and trend analysis at local, regional, and national levels. Identifying market gaps to find unsolved problems and unmet desires in the market. Identifying barriers relating to entry into a market to allow us to know what stands in our way and address challenges head-on. Identifying emerging market trends and insights that will enable CECT to launch a unique product ahead of competitors. Assists with designing and deploying market research questionnaires and supports the implementation of social and economic surveys to assess development potential and emerging learner needs, as needed. Supports CECT leadership by identifying data collection needs, advising on data input strategies, and ensuring alignment with desired reporting outcomes.



Task Automation and Reporting Efficiency


Identifies and implements opportunities to automate data collection, transformation, and reporting processes, increasing the efficiency and reliability of program and learner data workflows. Designs and maintains automated dashboards and visualizations that provide real-time insights to support evidence-based decision-making by leadership, Program Coordinators, and marketing teams. Collaborates with IT and database administrators to align automation solutions with system capabilities, ensuring sustainable and scalable reporting practices. Establishes strong internal relationships and serves as a go-to technical resource for dashboard functionality, data interpretation, and reporting solutions. Provides training and ongoing support to faculty, staff, and power users on the effective use of dashboards and visual tools, improving organizational data literacy. Develops training materials, documentation, and knowledge-sharing resources to build self-service capacity and encourage responsible data use across the division. Mentors colleagues and stakeholders to enhance analytics fluency and foster a culture of data-informed decision-making.





Required Qualifications


Four year undergraduate degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Data Science, etc. Three to five years of experience analyzing and interpreting statistical information Proficiency in data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau Fluent in python programming language and SQL Demonstrated professional qualitative and statistical/quantitative research skills Ability to build and update SharePoint sites
