Job Description


Facility Association ensures the availability of automobile insurance to owners, lessees and licensed drivers of motor vehicles who are eligible. We are an unincorporated non-profit association of insurers. FA operates in Ontario, Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Yukon, Nunavut, and Northwest Territories. Every insurer licensed to write automobile liability insurance in these jurisdictions is a member of Facility Association. The affairs and business of FA is managed and controlled by a Board of Directors with authority Canada-wide. The President and CEO is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization and management of staff.

Reporting to the Manager, Operational Data & Analytics, this role is responsible for supporting the management of data and any associated systems for use across the organization; and transforming data into business insights and generating various types of reports for informed-decision making by internal users (including Management) and external users (including automobile insurance industry Member companies and Regulatory bodies).

This role requires solid analytical skills and strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask in a complex, fast-paced environment, thrive in producing work of a high quality in a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop monthly/quarterly/ad-hoc dashboards and reports for internal and external use;

Transform data from vetted sources and generate data visualizations to illustrate trends to empower management with data-driven decision making capabilities;

Apply industry knowledge and strategic thinking, generate business insights for management and internal teams to address key business challenges;

Support the ongoing operation of information classification system and related applications, including data needs of other departments;

Support the data quality assurance analyses and report on such as well as recommendation for fixes;

Assist in the preparation, review, and distribution of monthly operational reporting to internal and external stakeholders;

Assist in the preparation of presentation materials for various committees as needed;

Develop, manage, and maintain business process documentation; and

Perform other department operational duties as required.

Experience and Qualifications:

University degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or equivalent quantitative fields;

Minimum 1 years of work experience in the financial services industry in Canada;

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access in particular);

Experience in data analytics and associated data management and/or business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau/PowerBI, Alteryx, Python/R, SQL, VBA);

Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines;

Motivated self-starter capable of working independently as well as in a team environment; and

Ability to be flexible, learn quickly and adapt to changes in technology and techniques.

Assets:

Experience in Property and Casualty insurance in Canada, and experience with large-scale Automobile insurance data analysis and/or management;

Experience using GISA/IBC data and exhibits (i.e. Canadian automobile insurance industry statistical data);

Knowledge and experience in cloud-based platforms (e.g. Microsoft Azure, AWS);

Intellectually curious who thrives on uncovering insights hidden in data and translating findings into business interpretations;

Ability to collaborate across internal and external parties through clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with a focus in written communication; and

Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
