What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Be Doing
CIBC ASG, the Alternate Solutions Group, comprises several direct, digital banking businesses, including Global Money Transfer and Simplii Financial \xe2\x80\x93 CIBC\xe2\x80\x99s Canadian digital banking brand. It is an innovative and fast moving branch of the CIBC Capital Markets group.
The ASG Analytics team supports these businesses by producing data analysis and modelling to increase operational efficiency, improve client experience and drive revenue.
You will work closely with our business and technology partners in ASG to understand the business initiatives and produce end-to-end analytics solutions, taking models from experiment to deployment.

How You\xe2\x80\x99ll Succeed
Expertise: You will utilize your knowledge of machine learning and finance to frame and solve business problems using predictive and prescriptive analytics. You will draw on familiarity of multiple ML domains such as classification, regression, time-series forecasting, recommender systems, reinforcement learning and causal inference. You will grow in the role, keeping up to date with developments in the field of finance and machine learning. You will build analytics products by writing code that is reliable, reproduceable and maintainable
Communication: You will engage with business partners and asking the right questions to understand their challenges. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be able to formulate and communicate solutions in an accessible way, and answer questions and concerns brought up by our partners.
Partnership: You will collaborate with the other members of the analytics team and bring your own perspectives to their problems and be open to suggestions on the best approaches for your own work. Together we will drive the success of the team.

Who You Are
You have deep quantitative knowledge, preferably with a graduate degree in computer science, engineering, statistics or other scientific or mathematical discipline, or equivalent experience.
You have 3 years work experience in analytical roles, including experience with data wrangling and programming skills to access, transform and prepare large datasets.
You also have a forward-looking, results-oriented approach to building out insights from data and analytics, and a history and track record of end-to-end responsibility for growing businesses with those insights.
You have extensive knowledge of:

  • Writing complex queries in SQL and working with data warehouses

  • Python programming

  • Software development tools, IDEs and Git for version control

  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI

Also beneficial:

  • Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes

  • Exposure to big data frameworks (PySpark, SparkML)

  • Machine learning libraries (pandas, scikit-learn, xgboost)

  • ML/AI Frameworks (Pytorch or Tensorflow)

  • Exposure to financial data, especially foreign exchange data
