Position Summary





ICE Western is seeking a

CWB Structural Steel Welding Supervisor

to oversee and manage structural welding operations within our manufacturing facility. This role is critical to ensuring welding activities meet all quality, safety, schedule, and regulatory requirements.



The Welding Supervisor will coordinate daily welding operations, provide technical leadership to welders, interpret structural drawings, and ensure compliance with applicable CSA, CWB, and AWS standards. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, deep technical welding knowledge, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities




Plan and coordinate daily welding activities; assign and supervise qualified welders Interview, train, mentor, and manage welding personnel, including performance management and discipline where required Supervise CWB welder testing and ensure certifications remain current for assigned tasks Issue approved drawings to welders; remove and replace drawings when revisions occur Prepare RFIs for Engineering and provide red-lined drawings as required Ensure welders follow approved WPS, use correct tools and fixtures, and avoid over-welding or distortion Review processed material kits and assign work accordingly Ensure welding consumables are correct, properly stored, maintained, and replenished Enforce cleanliness, organization, and 5S standards within the weld fabrication area Minimize rework through training, mentoring, equipment setup, consumable control, and process monitoring Monitor and enforce all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment Ensure compliance with CSA, CWB, AWS, and other applicable welding codes and standards Inspect welds for quality, accuracy, and code compliance Interface with CWB representatives and client inspectors Manage and maintain welding equipment, tools, and fixtures Assist in developing new welding procedures and supervise WPS qualifications Maintain detailed records of welding activities, inspections, and production progress Investigate and resolve welding-related issues and non-conformances

Current

CWB Structural Steel Welding Supervisor Certification

(required) CWB Level 1 or higher Welding Inspection Certification (asset)

Experience




Minimum 5 years' experience as a CWB-certified structural welder (FCAW & SMAW, S-Class, all positions) Minimum 5 years' experience as a structural fitter (may be concurrent with welding experience) Proven experience in a welding supervisory or lead role Strong ability to read and interpret structural and fabrication drawings

Technical & Welding Knowledge




In-depth knowledge of structural steel welding processes, techniques, and equipment Ability to set up and perform basic troubleshooting on welding machines Strong understanding of fixturing, heat shaping, weld defects, root causes, and corrective actions In-depth knowledge of CWB W59, W47.1, and applicable AWS standards

Safety




Excellent safety record Strong understanding of OH&S requirements and CSA W117.2
