Masonite is growing our Global Trade and Customs Team. The Global Trade and Customs Team is responsible for Masonite\'s trade policies, procedures, systems, special programs (supply chain security, Lacey, forced labor), broker/forwarder management and duty reduction programs.

Currently, we are looking for an import/export specialist to manage our operational trade activity in Canada. Our ideal candidate would be a skilled communicator who has experience delivering efficient and compliant trade activity in a manufacturing setting. This role is the primary face to the business in country and will work closely with other functions and departments within the organization such as Logistics, Sales, Sourcing, Finance, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Legal to ensure reasonable care. This role will report to the Director, Global Trade and Customs

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Broker instruction, KPIs and management as well as broker invoice audit and approvals
  • Post entry and post exit reviews (systematic and manual shipment review)
  • Transactional support for CA imports and exports as well as primary trade contact for internal and external key stakeholders related to these transactions
  • Record keeping (standard and First Sale transactions)
  • Support the Trade Master Data team in the finalization of trade related master data applied in country
  • Project ideation and management (lane optimization, broker/forwarder optimization)
  • 3rd party risk solicitation, assessment and corrective actions (forced labor/supply security)
  • Annual reconciliation support (gather facts from finance/tax, determine reconciliation needs, work with broker to complete, create book of evidence)
  • Develop appropriate documentation, training modules, and job aids to deliver training and instruction to internal and external parties involved with or affected by Customs and Trade issues.
  • In-depth review of complex legal regulatory documents to successfully address and respond to questions or issues identified by internal and external parties.
  • Complete special projects as needed including preparations of executive level presentations
  • Participate in the development and publishing of internal and external manuals related to import and export requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in related field of study or equivalent professional experience
  • Canadian Customs Broker License accreditation (\xe2\x80\x9cCSCB\xe2\x80\x9d) and/or Certified Customs Specialist designation (\xe2\x80\x9cCCS\xe2\x80\x9d), and prior hands-on experience in import operations (5-10 years).
  • BS / BA degree, or College Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High level of experience with free trade agreement programs such as NAFTA, Chile-Canada, and Korea-Canada agreements.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Canada Customs Act, and comprehensive understanding of regulations and procedures regarding CBSA clearance.
  • Experience dealing directly with CBSA, CFIA, Revenue Canada, and other Canadian government regulatory agency personnel.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly.
  • Knowledge of Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) governing Antidumping/Countervailing orders and investigations.
  • Solid understanding of all modes of transportation and traffic function
  • Proficiency in various MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
  • Strong trade fundamentals (classification (HTS/ECCN), country of origin, valuation, and free trade agreements
  • Strong analytical skills with regards to financial analysis, data manipulation, and the ability to create actionable information from data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio
  • Ability to communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Capable of creating written reports, proposals, processes, and project documentation
  • Ability to deliver high quality results
  • Experience with Supply Chain Security programs such as Canada\'s Partners in Protection Program, US C-TPAT or European AEO is highly desired for this position.
  • Proficiency with French language considered helpful.
