Job Summary



The Customs Broker / Customs Entry Specialist is responsible for preparing and submitting customs documentation to ensure the timely clearance of import/export shipments. This role requires strong knowledge of CBSA regulations, HS classification, duty/tax calculation, and excellent communication with customers, carriers, and government authorities.

Key Responsibilities



Prepare, review, and submit customs entries for import shipments in compliance with CBSA regulations. Classify products using the correct HS codes and determine duties and taxes accordingly. Maintain accurate records and documentation for customs clearance and audit requirements. Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, warehouse teams, and clients to ensure timely cargo release. Communicate with CBSA officers when clarification, ruling, or post-entry adjustments are required. Monitor customs release status and troubleshoot delays proactively. Ensure all entries align with company compliance standards and Canadian trade regulations. Provide advisory support to clients regarding tariff classification, valuation, free trade agreements, and import compliance requirements.

Qualifications



1-3+ years of experience in customs brokerage or import/export operations.

Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)

or willingness to obtain CCS is preferred. Strong understanding of CBSA import procedures, HS classification, valuation, and documentation. Experience using customs brokerage systems (e.g.,

TradeLens / DESCARTES / WiseTech / BorderConnect

). High attention to detail, accuracy, and responsibility. Fluent communication in

English

(Mandarin is an asset but not required). Ability to work independently and manage multiple shipments under time constraints.

Preferred Skills



Experience with e-commerce, cross-border, or high-volume clearance environments is a strong plus. Familiarity with Free Trade Agreements (CUSMA/USMCA), duty relief programs, & temporary import procedures. Customer coordination and problem-solving mindset.

Work Schedule & Benefits



Monday to Friday (standard business hours) Occasional after-hours coordination depending on shipment timelines Benefits package based on regional company policy (healthcare, PTO, retirement, etc.)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $3,500.00-$4,000.00 per month

Expected hours: 40 per week
