Our Construction segment includes all aspects of the construction of both public and private infrastructure in the Civil, Urban Transportation, Nuclear, Utility, and Conventional Industrial sectors. We operate primarily in Canada but selectively pursue international initiatives.

We build relationships with Indigenous communities on a foundation of trust, respect, and understanding by acting as a responsible and respectful business partner, working side by side with community leaders and members, while creating and nurturing meaningful and beneficial opportunities and relationships.


Reporting to the Aecon Project Manager, the Community Liaison Coordinator will provide administration, field and operational support, and coordination within the Treaty 3 Dibaajimowin Project communities. This is a mobile project, the successful candidate will need to conduct site work at different locations within the Treaty 3 territory.


What You\'ll Do Here:
  • Supporting implementation of Aecon\xe2\x80\x99s Relations Strategy within the Treaty 3 Dibaajimowin Project communities.
  • Assist in the development of community relations and partnership initiatives within the project.
  • Interface with functional groups to coordinate procurement, employment, and training opportunities for projects.
  • Act as a liaison between project teams and Treaty 3, and other participants to support project commitments and communications.
  • File management and recordkeeping.
  • Support implementation of Aecon\xe2\x80\x99s Indigenous awareness and recognition programs.
  • Provide proposal and communications support within the Fibre to The Home Treaty 3 communities.
  • Administrative oversight of Indigenous Participation Plans and associated internal Aecon reporting.
  • Participate in relationship-building opportunities, including conferences and other offsite events to develop and maintain productive working relationships with the communities.



What You Bring to the Team:
  • A minimum of 1-2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with Indigenous engagement, research, consulting or strong knowledge of Indigenous culture, governance systems and history.
  • Local to one of the communities within the Grand Council Treaty 3 Region
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience with general project communications and/or community engagement is considered an asset.
  • Excellent Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Mobility is essential, must be willing to travel to where projects or Indigenous Communities or Groups are located and work a flexible work schedule.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; can get messages across that have the desired effect; is effective both inside and outside the organization, and controversial topics.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work effectively under pressure with multiple deadlines and tasks.
