Permanent, 75 hours bi-weekly

As a Custodial Worker, you will support the daily operations of our campus facilities by maintaining a high level of cleanliness and safety. Working under the direction of the Coordinator, Custodial Services, you may be assigned to various spaces across campus depending on operational needs. Every day brings something different, from preparing rooms for events to ensuring our classrooms and gathering spaces are ready for learning.
Duties:

• Cleaning offices, classrooms, hallways, common areas, lavatories, food service areas, and other assigned spaces
• Cleaning vacated campus housing rooms as required
• Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing floors, and vacuuming throughout the campus
• Safely using and handling cleaning chemicals in accordance with WHMIS standards
• Emptying garbage and recycling, and replenishing supplies
• Moving furniture and setting up/taking down equipment for campus events
• Reporting maintenance or repair needs to your supervisor
• Participating in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and complying with OSH requirements
• Performing snow-clearing duties during winter months

What You Bring

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing up to 8 hours, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, reaching, etc.)
• Knowledge of safe and proper use of custodial equipment
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, safe spaces
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic phone/computer skills (email, text, etc.) and adequate oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage daily priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Building Service Worker (BSW) Certificate
• ISSA/CMI Advanced Certified Custodial Technician

Working Conditions

• Primarily indoor work with occasional outdoor duties
• Variable schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
• Moderate to loud noise levels depending on activity
• Required use of personal protective equipment or YukonU-provided uniform
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals
• Significant mobility throughout shifts

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING CUSTODIAL WORKERS' HOURS OF WORK

• Custodial Workers do not work a regular Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 shift. Shifts are Sunday to Thursday 4:00 am to 12:30 pm and/or Tuesday to Saturday 11:30 am to 8:00 pm. Individuals may be assigned to either shift schedule.
