Your role
Are you passionate about culture and people? Do you enjoy sharing your finds and ideas for cultural and community activities by creating original content across all our platforms? ICI xc3x8ele-du-Prince-xc3x89douard is seeking an energetic, driven Culture and Community Reporter/Editor able to take initiative and work independently chasing stories.
Whether it involves working on the radio or in front of the camera, or producing digital content and online articles that explore all facets of Prince Edward Islands cultural and community landscape, you would be joining a high-achieving team that thrives on innovating and going the extra mile.
As a Culture and Community Reporter/Editor based in Charlottetown, you will work on multiple platforms as needed xe2x80x94 digital, radio and television xe2x80x94 to cover the cultural and community news, events and issues that matter to French-speaking Islanders with clarity, depth, originality and accuracy.
Your primary contributions will be to Le Rxc3xa9veil xc3x8ele-du-Prince-xc3x89douard, and you will write articles for Radio-Canada.ca. You may also produce video content for digital platforms or television.
The successful candidate will be expected to meet the demands of live, feature and digital reporting by producing rigorous, high-quality journalism that connects with people, adhering to the Corporations Journalistic Standards and Practices.
Availability to work weekends and evenings based on production requirements.
Your profile:
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent
Three (3) years journalism experience
At least one (1) years arts reporting experience
At least one (1) years relevant on-air experience (doing live hits, producing reports, conducting interviews and writing digital articles)
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of the cultural and community sectors in P.E.I. and the Atlantic region
Excellent knowledge of current events
Independence and creativity
Superior live reporting skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Superior editorial skills (TV, radio, digital)
At least one (1) years experience doing original cross-platform reporting in a fast-paced production environment: finding angles, scripting, storytelling and identifying appropriate sources
Familiarity with digital tools
Teamwork skills
Ability to work effectively in a newsroom environment
Solid command of French
Intermediate oral, writing and reading proficiency in English
Ability to cultivate a network of contacts
Thorough knowledge and understanding of CBC/Radio-Canadas Journalistic Standards and Practices
