We are seeking a full-time Cultural Program Coordinator to facilitate Cultural Programming to all Eagle's Nest program locations in .
The Cultural Coordinator is responsible for facilitating cultural programming to Eagle's Nest programs. The Cultural Program Coordinator will be well-informed and up-to-date on issues affecting Indigenous peoples, and will play a key role in ensuring a variety of Indigenous teachings, spirituality, and other programs to support cultural identity are integral aspects of youth programming. The Cultural Coordinator works under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Services.
Responsibilities
:
To coordinate the delivery of innovative programming solutions involving, but not limited to: group activities, workshops, seminars, traditional crafts, indigenous languages, ceremonies and teachings, land- based teachings, and summer culture camps
To ensure programming is safe, supportive, culturally-informed, and based on caring, respect, growth, and learning
To provide positive role modelling to youth, to conduct themselves as a caring adult authority figure, and to make decisions in the best interest of the youth.
To resource Elders and traditional teachers, and supervise the facilitation of programming
To recruit and support Elders/guest speakers for specialized cultural knowledge and history for special events
To identify and make use of relevant services and activities provided by other individuals or organizations in our communities
To develop community partnerships for the delivery of programming
To identify and apply for community programming grants
To coordinate and/or deliver staff education and development workshops to enhance an understanding of Truth and Reconciliation and the impact of our collective history on Indigenous peoples in the past and today
To participate in strategic planning and assist with the agency's development and implementation of a Truth and Reconciliation action plan
To ensure the overall program budget is in accordance with the allocated funds, and follows accounting policies and procedures
Other activities as may be required of the position to support enhanced Cultural programming
To learn and operate according to the agency's Code of Ethics, philosophy, policies, and procedures
Qualifications:
The Cultural Program Coordinator will have a combination of education and experience in Human Services, knowledge about the various cultures, values, beliefs and traditions of Indigenous peoples and groups and previous experience developing community programming, partnerships, and connections to Indigenous communities. The Cultural Program Coordinator will have lived experience as an Indigenous person. This position requires: strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment, effective and professional communication and presentation skills, and proficient time management and organizational capabilities. Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, First Aid CPR-C, and valid class 5 driver's license are required.

Pay: $27.90-$35.31 per hour
