Description:
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Manager \xe2\x80\x93 Recreational Activities \xe2\x80\x93 Youth Programs, and is responsible for designing and conducting plastic and visual art workshops (drawing, modelling, handicraft or any form of expression) held during the Stewart Hall Cultural Centre\xe2\x80\x98s Cultural Day Camp for 6 to 12-year-old children. The workshops must be based on the weekly themes selected in advance by the incumbent and his/her theatre, dance and music colleagues. The incumbent will prepare the children to exhibit their artwork during the Friday performance. The incumbent\xe2\x80\x99s duties also include supervising the children.

The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to improve quality of life by promoting accessibility, participation, and integration of all citizens through the provision of excellent community, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, activities, and services.

Job requirements:
The incumbent must have a diploma in visual arts, education, visual and media arts instruction, cultural animation and research, or any other relevant discipline. The job requires experience in teaching visual arts or conducting artistic workshops.

Other requirements:

  • Oral fluency in French and English;
  • Enjoys working with children;
  • Great communicating and listening skills;
  • Independent, responsible, with good interpersonal skills;
  • Initiative, imagination, resourcefulness and creativity;
  • Organizational abilities in order to effectively plan, organize and conduct various activities;
  • Teamwork abilities;
  • A valid first aid certificate is an asset.
Schedule:
23 hours per week
Monday to Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
From June to August, 2022

The incumbent must be available for a few hours in early June to attend a training session and a team meeting (date to be determined).
