Position Purpose:



The Cultural Coordinator, as part of the Cultural community Development team, will coordinate and support all aspects of cultural knowledge transfer and planning of cultural programming for Splatsin Membership. The Cultural Coordinator provides opportunities for traditional teachings and ceremonies by coordination and creating access to programing that is guided by Knowledge Keepers, Elders and Traditional people and that meets the needs of Splatsin Members, families, elders and youth always, staff where appropriate. The Cultural coordinator will work to promote cultural awareness, safety and competency within the Splatsin community while promoting healing and wellness for all our members. The Cultural Coordinator will in conjunction with other programs help to connect and develop land-based healing and programming to ensure that cultural infusion happens within all programing. This role will focus on coordination programing and services for Splatsin members that is founded in the four pillars of health and wellness, Mental, Emotional, Spiritual, Physical areas this includes Splatsin te Secwepemc language, culture and spiritualism and any other forms of wellness that will provide opportunity for wholistic wellness for all Splatsin members, families and community.

Key Result Areas and Tasks:



Develop annual work plans that support the overall objective of service delivery of programing focused on building the cultural capacity of all Splatsin members. Draft and submit annual budgets, develop funding applications/proposals where required to secure external funding. Prepare biweekly, monthly, and annual activity and expenditure reporting. Where required, coordinate efforts with staff from Splatsin to support community development, program development and overall community engagement. Develop best practices, service providers lists and tools for project execution and management. Ensures project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately. Plan and deliver culturally directed activities and events for community with a focus on children and families. Liaise with Splatsin departments (that provide cultural support/activities) in order to assist in cultural planning in ways to help address issues of intergenerational trauma for community (workshops, training, ect)

Position Requirements:



Knowledge of Secwepemc culture, ceremonies and practices. Cultural and Project management experience or equivalent. Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management. Direct work experience with First Nation community members. Experience working independently and in a team-oriented environment. Proficient in project management software, budgeting, and work plan development. Knowledge of Secwepemc culture and traditions, intergovernmental relations. Excellent communication skills. Diploma in indigenous studies/social services or combination of minimum 3 years related work. Valid Driver's License. Strong knowledge and practice of Indigenous culture and history such as family violence, child welfare, the impacts of trauma, Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach. Extensive experience working with Indigenous children, youth and families in a healing and wellness capacity. Understand decolonization and experience in the provision of decolonization education.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
