Reporting to the General Manager, the Culinary Services Manager position is a critical role with overall accountability for the management and leadership of all operational activities within the dietary department.

As part of our team, your role as a Culinary Services Manager contributes to our resident experiences in the following ways:

Planning, coordinating, directing and monitoring effectiveness of all operational activities within the dietary department, ensuring those activities are aligned to the home's strategic plan, mission and values. Overseeing recruitment, employee and labour relations, payroll and benefits, orientation, occupational and non-occupational injury/illness, performance management, training, education and other people related functions within the dietary department. Ensures effective and efficient procurement and supply control procedures within the dietary department. Responds promptly to address dietary concerns of residents and family members, mediates appropriate responses to those concerns and implements action plans.
oManaging and monitoring the dietary budget, takes appropriate action where variances are identified to bring expenditures in line within the dietary budget.
oCreating menus, monitoring daily food preparation and reviewing of menus to ensure individual dietary needs of residents are met.oProviding coverage in the capacity of a Cook, as required.

Maintains an organized system of records management for the dietary department. Ensures compliance with all relevant legislation including but not limited to: Ministry Acts, regulations, policies and procedures, directives, and collective agreements. Works in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Need:

Graduate of an accredited Food Service Supervision/Nutrition Management Program.
Must have a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a managerial or supervisor capacity in a healthcare setting, preferably long-term care.
Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.
Must have demonstrated supervisory and leadership abilities (e.g., people management, finance, labour relations and departmental coordination).
Must posses excellent written and oral communication skills.
Sound knowledge of therapeutic diets and current nutritional standards relating to the geriatric population.
Strong relationship building abilities and highly proficient planning and organizing skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computerized documentation systems.
All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector check.
Have a passion to promote person-centered care and work with the senior population.
