Position Summary:
As the Culinary Manager - Bistro, you will oversee all aspects of our dining services, ensuring residents enjoy nutritious, flavorful, and beautifully presented meals in a welcoming environment. This role combines culinary creativity with leadership responsibility, managing both the back and front of house operations to achieve excellence in dining service.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead dining services operations including kitchen, bistro/cafe, and dining room.
Prepare and deliver high-quality meals in line with physician dietary orders and community menus.
Recruit, train, and supervise dining services staff; foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
Manage menu planning, special events, and creative food presentation programs.
Oversee food and labor budgets, purchasing, inventory control, and record keeping.
Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health standards.
Maintain and monitor cleaning and maintenance schedules for kitchen equipment and dining spaces.
Promote resident satisfaction by creating an exceptional dining experience.
Participate in community leadership meetings to align dining services with broader goals.
Qualifications:
Culinary Arts degree
and
2+ years of food preparation experience,
or
5+ years of high-volume cooking/fine dining experience.
Minimum of 2 years in a management role.
Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
Ability to manage budgets, inventory, and recipe conversions.
Must possess or obtain ServSafe HACCP or Food Safe certification within 30 days of hire.
Current food handler's permit as required by state/provincial regulations.
