CANADA SUMMER JOBS PROGRAM 2025

St. Joseph's Care Group is excited to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program 2025. The CSJ program is an initiative of the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy, which aims to provide flexible and holistic services to support all young Canadians develop the skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition into the labour market.

Employment Opportunity:

Working as part of the Human Resources team, the youth will assist with a variety of human resources duties. The youth will have an opportunity to gain knowlegde and experience of human resources within a large non-profit organization.

Qualifications:

Must meet Canada Summer Jobs Program Criteria (see below) Current enrollment in, or completion of, a related educational program (i.e. Business specializing in Human Resources, etc.) Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Ability to work independently and interdependently Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills

Canada Summer Jobs Program Criteria

As per the CSJ criteria, youth must:

be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and,
have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.


International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions. Offers of employment made to external candidates are conditional upon providing proof of COVID-19 vaccination as per the SJCG Immunization Policy or proof of valid medical exemption, prior to the offered effective date. If proof of vaccination or valid medical exemption is not provided, the offer of employment is rescinded.
