Are you interested in connecting with people and spending time both in an office and across our properties along the Inner Harbour? We have a co-op position within the cruise operations support team for the summer, which will run from May 1 to Aug 31, 2023. Purpose of Position To assist the Director, Cruise Development with coordination for a range of cruise-related activities, including inaugural calls, ship tours, communication to crew, the visitor welcome experience and other projects. The position will collaborate closely with Greater Victoria Harbour Authority\xe2\x80\x99s (GVHA) Communications and Engagement Team and various external partners. Specific Accountabilities
  • Assists the Director, Cruise Development with development and execution of projects that support the cruise industry in Victoria
  • Supports GVHA\xe2\x80\x99s welcome to cruise ships, cruise passengers and cruise crew members
  • Assists with planning and logistics for cruise related events and meetings
  • Administrative support for GVHA cruise operational and public facing committees
  • Assists with execution of environmental ship tours, onboard activities and coordinating invitees such as securing necessary security details
  • Approaches all aspects of work with a lens of sustainability
  • Represents GVHA in a professional and courteous manner
Tools/Equipment
  • Operates computer and standard office equipment
  • Uses computer software including Microsoft Office
Working Conditions
  • 37.5 hours a week from May 1 through August 31, 2023
  • Opportunity for part-time work in April and September
  • Office environment and site/field environment
  • Evenings and/or weekends may be required due to operational requirements and/or to participate in events
  • Exposure to all weather and operating conditions within an indoor and outdoor event execution context
  • Ability to get oneself between GVHA properties
Experience and Education
  • College/University student in Business, Hospitality or Tourism, or any related field of study
  • Preference may be given to applicants who self-identify as Indigenous
  • Experience working with local Indigenous communities an asset
  • Proficient with all MS Office applications
  • Experience in community engagement and client relations
  • Basic First Aid Certificate preferred
