The Crop Protection Field Specialist will assist with the day-to-day field research operations for Crop Protection Discovery & Development encompassing seed applied technology, fertility enhancement, and crop protection research projects at internal and off-site locations in Ontario. The Crop Protection Field Specialist will help lead the implementation of field experiments, assist with collecting and reporting data, and help train and manage the summer crew. This position will also be a partner to the commercial team at Corteva to support the demonstration and launch of our new product concepts. Responsibilities \xe2\x80\x93 What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do:
  • Contributes to the overall planning and implementation of the field research program and ensures that local needs are incorporated as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with team members to conduct field work in a timely fashion (i.e. land preparation, seeding, fertilizing, spraying, harvesting), including the transportation of equipment (i.e. trailering) to off-site locations to perform field operations.
  • Supervises the daily tasks of summer assistants and shares in the responsibility to create an effective performance plan for each intern.
  • Executes field research in a scientific manner, collects data in a timely fashion, and provides input into the final project summarizations.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and is an accountable advocate for the safety culture of Corteva Agriscience.
  • Manages the day-to-day operation of the field research stations as well as the off-site trials in Southern ON.

Qualifications

Qualifications \xe2\x80\x93 What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Bring: A B.Sc. is preferred, but a minimum Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent in a biology-related science is required. A minimum of Class A restricted driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and ability to operate field equipment is required. A working knowledge of field research and scientific interpretation is an asset. Candidates must have an enhanced understanding of agronomic practices, as well as the safe use of pesticides and their application. Also, proven skills in planning, coordinating and initiating technical field research programs is required. Familiarity with ARM software and mechanical aptitude is very desirable.
