In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the IMCRT Coordinator or designate, functions as a professional member of an inter-disciplinary crisis response team. Provides direct and indirect clinical service to the capital region and southern gulf islands, including crisis intervention, assessment of risk to self/others, psychiatric assessment and screening for access to mental health and addictions services, short term treatment planning and follow-up support, exploration of community resources and client needs, liaison and coordination with other community services and participation in planning priorities for service to adults with mental health & addictions problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

RN/RPN plus two years recent directly related experience working with people experiencing mental illness in areas requiring frequent crisis intervention and risk assessments, either institutionally or community based, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant. Current CPR certification must be attached to application.

Experience in suicide prevention, crisis intervention and stabilization, with a wide range of serious mental illnesses. Experience working with families of the mentally ill. Experience working within a multidisciplinary environment. Knowledge of interviewing, assessment, crisis intervention and suicide prevention techniques. Must have a valid Class 5 Driver\'s license and may be required to use personal vehicle on a mileage reimbursement basis. Travel is a requirement of the position.
