Contribute to the Niagara region by defending those who need it most. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Lawyer to join our legal team. While working at Singh, Buchanan & Associates, LLP, you will come to appreciate all that the Niagara Region has to offer -- a robust winery and dining scene, numerous hiking trails and so much more.

Looking for a motivated associate to assist with our criminal defence law practice on a full-time basis.

Job Duties:

The successful candidate will be required to assist with set date court, bail hearings, Crown and judicial pre-trials, pleas, and trials.

Assist senior counsel with case preparation through client meetings, reviewing disclosure, and legal research.

Must be able to attend the Niagara Detention Centre on a weekly basis to speak with clients as well as other detention centres as needed.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor degree or equivalent from a recognized law school.

Lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario

Must have access to a car for travel to detention centres and other court locations.

Excellent knowledge of criminal evidence and procedure.

Strong advocacy (written and oral) skills.

Preference will be given to applicants with 1 year experience or more in criminal law.

Salary: minimum of $70,000-$80,000 (to be commensurate with experience; other financial incentives).
