Metro Vancouver Transit Police ("Transit Police") is the leader in regional public transit policing, operating across 22 communities. It provides policing services to all modes of transit: Bus, SeaBus, SkyTrain, and West Coast Express. In partnership with cross-regional partners, Transit Police prevents crime and provides coordinated police services to transit users throughout the region. It also seeks to have a workforce that is responsive to and reflective of the many diverse communities is serves.


Responsibilities

Provide investigative support in the preparation of fulsome historical backgrounds for subjects under development. This includes law enforcement database checks and open-source research to facilitate the creation of the Target Profile, Lifestyle Assessment, and Viability Assessment. Identify, monitor, and map crime trends, patterns, series, developments, offenders and criminal groups using methods such as link association and timeline charts. Conducts detailed and extensive background profiles on suspects, subjects of interest and all other individuals connected to criminal investigations. Identify potential gaps in investigations and providing leads that are considered by investigators in their decision-making process. Use of CPIC, PROS, PRIME and NCDB databases as the content of these law enforcement electronic database systems. Create and maintain various templates and spreadsheets for new initiatives. Performs related work as assigned, such being items of minor nature that do not affect the value of the job.

Working Conditions


The Crime Analyst will be required to:

Perform duties under the pressure of ever-changing time lines. Work under extremely stressful situations from the requirement to meet tight deadlines. Handle and safeguard highly sensitive material relative to threats to FIFA World Cup 2026. Testify in criminal court as well as potentially public inquiries as required.

Qualifications


------------------




Education:

University degree in Social Sciences.
Experience:

Up to two (2) years of experience in a police environment or criminal justice system Knowledge and experience working with computer applications, including, but not limited to PRIME, CAD, CPIC, JUSTIN, IBM analyst Notebook, iBase with ArcMap conduit, and CORNET. Considerable applicable experience in research, statistical and analytical principles, practices, procedures, forecasting methods and techniques. Must be able to obtain and maintain Enhanced Security Clearance. Has a working knowledge of the Metro Vancouver Transit Police and TransLink. File Coordination and strong organizational skills

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.


Work Schedule

This position works Monday to Friday, 0800-1600, or as set by the RCMP IIU. Flexibility is required to adjust according to operational requirements, meetings, briefings, etc.

Salary: $46.34 to $55.57 / hour
