Personal Care Assistant Night Shift - (Full-Time) Temporary Position

(It is the right of management to alter or change the hours of work as it deems necessary)

Start Date: Immediately

Qualifications

Duties include but are not limited to:

Review Medication Process Daily and follow according to Eastern Health Standards.

Review reports from dayshift and become informed verbally of any issues.

MAR sheets must be signed as the medication is given in order to ensure that proper documentation is done. All PCA's must observe residents taking their meds.

Assist residents that require night care and sign off on log.

PCA's are to assist with night time snacks which are from 8-9pm.

Respond to resident call bells promptly.

The front doors are to be locked at 9:30pm and not to be unlocked until 6am the next morning, for security purposes. Ensure that all residents are home for the night before locking the doors

There are to be hourly checks done within KRR. Ensure that the log is completed with your hourly findings.

All common area floors are to be cleaned nightly, this includes living room, card room, pub room, chapel, staff room and staff washroom - follow cleaning schedule

Public bathroom is to be cleaned nightly.

Record any changes in resident care in the resident's files and also in the communication book.

Any and all medication errors are to be documented immediately. Any strayed meds should be discarded properly and notify management.

If RCM isn't available, PCA workers will have to make decisions regarding resident's health. If you feel a resident requires emergency medical care, call 911 and follow proper procedures.

During breaks at least one PCA should be available at all times

Regular hand washing and sanitizing should be used frequently.

All Med Room keys are to be left on KRR premises at all times. If they are taken home mistakenly then it's the employees responsibility to notify the staff and return them ASAP.

Complete night care check list and security check list

Completes appropriate documentation regarding resident care. Contributes and read report at the end/beginning of shifts regarding changes in resident condition.

Be sure to always approach residents with a friendly attitude and be courteous.

Foster an environment of engagement, encouragement and safeguard to ensure resident's well-being is maintained. Particularly for those seniors who are vulnerable and require guidance/support

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
oCompassionate and cares about the dignity of each resident.
oGood communication skills.
oPossesses patience and understanding when dealing with residents.
oHas good listening skills.

As per collective agreement, wage for this position is $18.00/hr.
