The Role:
As a Credit Manager, you\xe2\x80\x99ll provide guidance to a team of Mortgage Underwriters who approve mortgages originating from various channels. You\xe2\x80\x99ll ensure the success of the team through coaching, planning, QA, and making sure the needs of internal stakeholders are met. What You\xe2\x80\x99ll be Doing:

Risk
  • Evolving our Quality Assurance practice in a scalable way
  • Working with Neo\xe2\x80\x99s Risk teams to ensure continued compliance
  • Adhering and holding your team accountable to Neo\xe2\x80\x99s Residential Underwriting guidelines
  • Reviewing credit exceptions for continuity and mitigation
  • Providing feedback to team members on deals that do not balance external stakeholder standards with Neo\xe2\x80\x99s standards
People
  • Owning service levels and monitoring deal volumes while assuring quality
  • Providing solutions to escalated deals
  • Ensuring KPI\xe2\x80\x99s are met
  • Motivating and coaching team members to assist them in exceeding their objectives
Process
  • Creating, implementing, and evaluating procedures to increase team productivity and efficiency
  • Approve/Authorize transactions, exceptions, and escalations within designated limits
  • Accountability to errors and oversights by team members with a strong understanding of the impacts this holds on the business
  • Keeping internal and external stakeholders up to date on regulatory changes
Who we are looking for:
  • You have 10+ years of lender residential mortgage underwriting experience
  • You have exercised approval authority at a senior level in a high-volume environment
  • You\xe2\x80\x99ve proven your leadership skills through previous experience in a team leader or management position
  • You\xe2\x80\x99ve demonstrated training and coaching skills to support team member development
  • You possess the ability to manage group dynamics and motivate staff toward common goals
  • You\xe2\x80\x99re able to adapt your team to constantly changing volumes
  • You have an in-depth understanding of the Canadian residential mortgage industry and associated government legislation
  • You have a detailed working knowledge of real estate and covenant assessments, legislation, and land title systems in all provinces
  • You understand the needs that drive a commissioned sale force
  • You work well under pressure caused by high volumes and tight turnaround times and can make quick, accurate decisions. You think quickly on your feet
  • Mitigating risk on every single file is huge. You are accountable for the risks associated with these deals.
