About the Role:
As part of a direct asset-based lending team, you will play a critical role in processing and analyzing credit applications for loans and leases. This includes conducting thorough due diligence, identifying risk factors, determining asset values, and ensuring every credit decision aligns with our internal policies.
This role requires a strong sense of accountability, sound judgment, and a high standard of professionalism and we are looking for someone who is adaptable to change and can learn quickly. Being able to tackle new challenges while being detail-oriented will be a great asset.
Summary of Core Responsibilities:
Evaluate creditworthiness of applicants and provide clear, well-supported recommendations on credit limits and terms.
Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information to assess the risks and properly mitigate those risks.
Conduct comprehensive due diligence to ensure each application complies with internal credit policies and external regulations.
Monitor portfolio accounts for changes in credit quality and proactively recommend actions where necessary.
Prepare high-quality credit reports and summaries for management, with clear rationale behind every recommendation.
Maintain ongoing, professional communication with broker partners, internal teams, and stakeholders.
Research and validate current market values for equipment and other secured assets.
Uphold a consistent level of thoroughness, professionalism, and attention to detail in all underwriting activities.
Assist and suggest the development and implementation of procedures, to minimize risk and improve underwriting quality.
Maintain a constant and proactive vigilance for credit fraud.
Maintain credit department policy and procedure manual as required.
Other duties as may be required.
Qualifications:
B.A./B.S. degree or diploma in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
3+ years combined experience in any of the following areas is considered an asset:
o Loan or lease underwriting
o Portfolio or asset management
o Formal credit or risk management training
Experience with equipment leasing or equipment valuation is a strong asset.
Solid knowledge of credit risk management principles and commercial lending.
