What You'll Do





As a Crane Technician, you will play a vital role within GIP's Technical Services team, delivering maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and repair services for Electric Overhead Traveling (EOT) cranes and associated lifting equipment. You will help ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of critical lifting systems for our clients.


You will:




Inspection & Preventive Maintenance




Conduct inspections of EOT cranes, hoists, and lifting systems in accordance with CSA B167-16 and manufacturer standards. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.

Troubleshooting & Repairs




Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, and technical documentation. Repair or replace motors, brakes, wire ropes, gearboxes, trolleys, hoists, VFDs, PLC components, and related systems.

Load Testing & Commissioning




Perform load tests to verify equipment functionality and regulatory compliance. Support commissioning activities for new or refurbished cranes.

Technical Support & Reporting




Provide clients with clear explanations of findings, recommended repairs, and maintenance requirements. Prepare professional service and inspection reports.

Estimating & Sales Support




Assist the technical services and sales teams by conducting site assessments, providing technical input for estimates, and identifying customer needs. Support long-term service contract proposals and maintenance planning.

Teamwork & Continuous Improvement




Work collaboratively with other technicians on complex service assignments. Participate in ongoing training and contribute ideas to improve service efficiency and safety. Support emergency repair call-outs when required.

What We're Looking For





We're excited to meet candidates who have:


Trade certification (Electrician or Industrial Mechanic/Millwright) or relevant technical training. Minimum 3 years of experience in EOT crane maintenance, repairs, or installation. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with experience in crane control systems, VFDs, PLCs, and lifting equipment. Working knowledge of CSA B167-16 and applicable safety regulations. Ability to work at heights and in industrial environments. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Professional communication skills and a customer-focused approach. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites.
