Ontario Shipyards is looking for a Crane Operator to join our team in Hamilton!
Job Summary:
As a Mobile Crane Operator, you will lift, move, and position equipment and materials throughout the shipyard. Your responsibilities include conducting pre-operational inspections, calculating load capacities, and ensuring safe crane operations. You will also perform routine maintenance and ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.

Responsibilities/Duties:
Strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines for crane operation.
Conduct pre-operational inspections to ensure equipment is in safe working condition and compliant with operational standards.
Safely operate a variety of mobile cranes to lift, move, position, and place equipment and materials with efficiency and precision.
Calculate crane capacities and load weights to prepare for rigging and hoisting, including tarping, strapping, and load distribution.
Conduct routine preventative maintenance on cranes and request repairs as needed to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, signalers, and workers to coordinate lifts, follow instructions, and ensure site safety using hand signals, radios, or other communication devices.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested to support operations.
Requirements:
Strong commitment to safety and strict adherence to safety protocols.
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent required, High school diploma preferred.
Possess 2+ years of technical hands-on experience in the field.
Hold a valid Red Seal Trade Certification 339A.
Maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving abstract (Mandatory).
Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
Must have adequate physical fitness to fulfill demanding tasks with a willingness to work in various weather conditions year-round.
Note:
In this role, you will operate a variety of cranes used throughout the shipyard. This includes, but is not limited to, the following models:
Friction Model Machines - 1979 Linkbelt LS 518
Grove RT 540E
Linkbelt Hylab 348 - 300 TON
Linkbelt Hylab 348 - 200 TON
Training will be provided for operators who are unfamiliar with friction cranes
