This is a full-time in-person based in Dawson Creek, BC.
Mountainview Safety Services Ltd. is seeking a Chartered Public Accountant to join the accounting team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing budgets, and providing financial insights to support business decisions. The individual must have strong analytical skills, experience in corporate finance, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced office environment.
The successful applicant must have ten (10) years of experience in Canada.
The successful applicant must reside in Dawson Creek, B.C. An employer-provided relocation package is available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management & Reporting
Prepares, analyzes, and presents accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and monthly executive reports.
Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Monitors financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Company policies and industry regulations.
Identifies key financial trends during monthly financial meetings and suggests actionable recommendations.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Proposes, develops, and manages annual budgets, working closely with department heads to align financial goals with operational objectives.
Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts to support strategic decision making.
Conducts cost-benefit analyses on Company expenses, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Tax Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
Oversees tax planning, ensuring timely and accurate corporate tax filings and compliance with federal, provincial, and industry regulations.
Liaises with external auditors, tax advisors, and government agencies as required.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of tax laws, financial regulations, and reporting requirements.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
Ensures timely processing of reconciliation of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions.
Works with the Finance Team to optimize cash flow management and reduce outstanding receivables.
Reviews and approves vendor payments, ensuring alignment with contractual agreements and budget constraints.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
Develops and enforces internal controls to safeguard Company assets and prevent financial discrepancies.
Conducts periodic financial audits to assess compliance and mitigate financial risks.
Implements and maintains accounting policies and procedures in line with industry best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required
CPA designation (CPA Canada or equivalent) in good standing is preferred. Extensive experience will be considered in lieu.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Extensive experience will be considered in lieu.
Minimum ten (10) years of experience in Canadian corporate accounting, financial management, or public accounting.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software (Sage, Inacct, QuickBooks, or equivalent) and Microsoft suite of products.
Excellent analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial personnel.
Must live in Dawson Creek, BC. An employer-provided relocation package is available.
Preferred
Sage Intacct experience would be very beneficial.
Experience in the safety, oil and gas, or industrial sector is an asset.
