Winter 2023 Supplemental Course Lecturer Position

The Department of Political Science is inviting applications for a course lecturer position to teach in Winter 2023. Please include your Cover Letter and Curriculum Vitae and if applicable a copy of your Study/Work Permit. A brief course outline is optional.

POLI 328-001 Comparing European Democracies (CAP 80)

An introduction to the study of contemporary European politics. The course presents the basic concepts and approaches used in the field of European comparative politics and examines patterns of similarity and difference across Europe, as well as some current political debates in Europe.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

A completed PhD degree or enrolled in a doctoral program in Political Science or a discipline related to the course;

Provide evidence of effective teaching ability as a result of having successfully taught a similar course;

The candidate's area of specialization must be as close as possible to that of the course being offered;

Experience as a teaching assistant for a course is an asset.



Wednesdays and Fridays 02:35 pm-03:55 pm, January 4, 2023 - April 13, 2023. Location: DUFF THTR 1.

Please note that, government directives permitting, it is anticipated that most courses will be taught in person. Should government restrictions prohibit in-person teaching, courses will revert to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Course Lecturers will be advised without delay. Course Lecturers may be required to prepare and deliver teaching material suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform (e.g., Zoom, WebEx) and the McGill myCourses learning management system. Training and assistance on remote teaching are available through Teaching and Learning Services (TLS). Course Lecturers are encouraged to record their lectures.

The language of instruction at McGill is English, but proficiency in spoken and written French is an asset.

Salary: $9,625 per course.
