Counsellor to Children, Youth and their Caregivers



Family Service Regina, a community-based not-for-profit agency, is seeking a Counsellor to Children, Youth and their Caregivers to join our team. This position reports to the Manager of Counselling Services and is responsible for providing evidence-based counselling services to children, youth, families and caregivers in individual, group and family settings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Conduct initial assessments to determine the needs and goals of the children and youth along with their families and caregivers. Provide evidence-based counselling services to children, youth, families and caregivers in individual, group and family settings. Develop service plans in collaboration with children and youth that are tailored to the unique needs of each child and youth and their family. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all services provided in accordance with agency policies and regulatory requirements. Participate in monthly FSR staff meeting, bi-weekly counselling team meetings and FS Sask Children,Youth and their Caregiver meetings. Represent the agency on community committees and/or groups as assigned. Collaborate with other members of the counselling team to coordinate care and provide peer consultation and support. Provide counselling services to other counselling programs as required. Work across interagency departments to enhance coordination of service, service effectiveness, workflow and administrative process to ensure Rapid Access Counselling to Children, Youth and their Caregivers enhances overall agency outcomes and reduces wait times for services. Respond to clinical/client emergencies and review critical incident/unusual occurrence reports in consultation with other clinical staff as necessary. Demonstrate proficiency in a range of clinical theories, especially play based therapies, solution focused, client informed, and brief therapy modalities. Make referrals to other resources where appropriate and liaise with other programs or resources around case management where necessary. Seek appropriate consultation as necessary for clinical work and complete detailed and timely clinical documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Master of Social Work, Masters of Arts (Psychology), or Master of Education (Psychology). Member in good standing with professional governing body. Experience providing counselling to children, youth, families and their caregivers. Comfortable navigating consent with children, youth and their caregivers. Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and youth mental health and behavioural concerns. Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully in a team environment.
The successful candidates will be adaptable in approach, well-organized, and proficient in time-management, workload prioritization, and self-directed work planning. A criminal record check and a valid Saskatchewan driver's license are required. This position requires some flexibility in scheduling. Hours of work are 9-5 with one evening available for a later appointment.
