Family Service Regina, a community based, not-for-profit agency, is seeking an experienced and adaptable Social Worker to provide Rapid Access Counselling services within Regina Public Library locations.
This unique position brings professional counselling directly into community spaces, reducing barriers and connecting people to timely, solution-focused support. The Counsellor will provide brief therapy services to families, couples and children in a walk-in and appointment-based setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide solution-focused, brief therapy sessions to clients presenting with a wide range of issues, including stress, relationships, family conflict, parenting, grief, and emotional regulation.
Conduct intake assessments and determine appropriate counselling goals within a single-session or short-term framework.
Offer trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered services in a public, accessible, and fast-paced setting.
Demonstrate professionalism and maintain confidentiality and privacy while working in an open, community-based environment.
Provide referrals and warm connections to other Family Service Regina programs and community resources when additional or ongoing support is needed.
Collaborate with library staff, community partners, and other professionals to support client access, safety, and well-being.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, and participate in supervision, team meetings, and program evaluation.
Contribute to building awareness of counselling supports within the library system and broader community.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW).
Minimum two years' clinical counselling experience, preferably in community-based, walk-in, or short-term service settings.
Demonstrated proficiency in solution-focused and brief therapy models, with the ability to establish rapport quickly.
Experience working with diverse populations, including newcomers, youth, and individuals facing social, economic, or mental health challenges.
Excellent crisis intervention, assessment, and de-escalation skills.
Strong communication, organization, and self-management abilities, with comfort working independently in off-site settings.
Valid Saskatchewan driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Criminal record check required.
Flexibility to work at various library branches and at least one evening per week (5:00 appointment).
