Shift:

Monday to Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm (flexible)



SUMMARY

The Health, Safety and Environmental Manager develops, maintains, and monitors The Erb Group's Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) manuals, policies, procedures and training to ensure compliance and drive a safety-first culture.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain knowledge of the Canada Labour Code and OHS rules and regulations. Develop and maintain an OHS manual, policies, and procedures. Maintain knowledge of Federal and Provincial Environmental rules and regulations. Develop and maintain the Erb Spills Prevention and Contingency Plan. Ensure management is familiar with the Erb Group health and safety policy, standards, road map, and related processes. Assist Terminal Managers in fulfilling their H&S responsibilities and monitor the application of the Erb Group safety rules, governance, and operating standards. Provide the New Hamburg/Baden Occupational Health and Safety Committee with monthly inspection reports. Be a member and co-chair of the OHS committee for New Hamburg/Baden. Audit all OHS committees to ensure compliance semi-annually. Visit terminals semi-annually to inspect OHS standards. Monitor progress against improvement plans, targets, training schedules, audits, and site inspections. Promote accident prevention methods and best practices, compile and disseminate accident and incident information and ways of prevention. Promote and drive a participative procedure with employees for analyzing all aspects of the work to identify and reduce at risk situations and prevent unsafe behaviours. Assist in implementing appropriate prevention and risk control measures based on the results of risk assessment through design, engineering, and specification to eliminate or reduce the risks. Ensure operations is informed of all legal requirements, ensuring ownership and effective implementation. Ensure health and safety KPI reporting in accordance with legislative standards and requirements. Responsible for general ergonomic assessments. Drive behaviours that support building world-class health and safety culture. Responsible for the Safe Worker Program and the Safety Boot/Shoe Program. All other duties/projects as required

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment or equivalent experience required. Has obtained or working towards a CRST or CRSP designation. 3-5 years' experience in OHS management required with experience in training and analysis. MS Office Suite experience required. AS400 experience considered an asset. Ability to multi-task, prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to adapt to change. Excellent verbal & written communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Salaried Role, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Some travel to ON, MB and QC locations required.
