Job Description



At SMS Equipment, our Corporate Reporting & Treasury Manager is a key member of the Finance Team. They are responsible for the accuracy of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s financial records, ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting standards and management of the corporate treasury function. We are seeking someone who can provide leadership, has a strong financial background and is a critical thinker to join our team in Acheson, AB. Responsibilities include but are not limited too:

  • Financial Reporting. Responsible for timely and accurate delivery of Company\xe2\x80\x99s consolidation and reporting to the shareholder, including quarterly schedules. Annual preparation of external financial statements. Manage account reconciliations for key areas of the balance sheet. Keep abreast of new accounting pronouncements including analyzing their impact and being a key point of contact for accounting policy research, and advice to all departments.
  • Treasury. Development of a FX hedging program to de-risk FX risk. Responsible for ensuring FX contracts are aligned to SMS strategy and policy. Forecast FX exposures on regular basis and provide reports to Executive and senior leaders. Support month-end close by preparing and/or reviewing various treasury entries.
  • Cash Management & Banking. Responsible for cash flow forecasting on a daily and/or weekly basis. Monitor daily banking balances and recommend funding actions as required. Responsible for supervising the accurate application of incoming cash transactions in the general ledger. Proactively manage the day-to-day relationships with banks.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an Undergraduate Business Degree and Accounting designation (CPA) as well as a minimum of 5 years experience in accounting and reporting. Other requirements include:
  • Extensive knowledge in accounting principles and practices including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and/or Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing financial statements.
  • Collaborative team player who can cultivate strong relationships and influence others.
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment with strict deadlines and tight schedules.
  • Ability to drive forward continuous process improvements and challenge status quo.
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Able to work independently and to your own initiative.
